It's Monday 4/4! What Are You Reading?

The book is arranged by date

Is it Monday again? Not much happened last week, just the usual routine: going to my father-in-law’s house every day (some days it’s very nice and other days in a different world), blogging, cooking, relaxing, etc. I felt better than before. Weeks, thank God, though I’m still struggling with post-Covid. Last week I had the opportunity to talk to my chronic pathologist and he is prescribing me some new medications and I hope this will help me get back to a “normal” baseline. And I spent 90 minutes on the phone with our health insurance company, making sure many things worked. Aren’t these phone calls funny? However, I must admit that my "Door of Health" was excellent and solved all the problems.

One day I went out into the world and stopped by a local member of Burns & Nobles. I talked to buyers who will buy my books for exhibits from local authors Hooray! I also grabbed a few copies of the April issue of RV magazine, which featured my article, Take a Hike! With children of all ages. This is my first submitted article where I posted all the photos and entries. The magazine has worked well in design and production. Additional copies for my mother (of course) and my children, as the article is like a professionally prepared album of her childhood travels and travels.

And despite the constantly cold and humid weather, we are finally seeing signs of spring, which makes me happy! Today is very sunny, which is a rarity lately, so I took a little walk and for the first time since the previous COVID-19 took a walk around the neighborhood. The finger may not make a big profit, but going outside is good!

Finally our flowers bloomed!

The surrounding trees are starting to bloom!

Just one video last week, my weekly video a little more: Friday and weekend lessons on the books I read / listen to this weekend, and our mini-trip last week.

Here's what we read last week:

I still read and love this book by William Kent Krueger This Kind Earth , chosen by All-County Reeds of the Year, and our next book for the group Reading Around Me. I’ve heard reviews of Kroger’s novels from my friends over the years. , so I was happy to read this (first) novel. The action takes place during a depression that began in 1932 at Lincoln Indian School in Minnesota, where among hundreds of other children, two white orphan brothers, Odysseus and Albert, and a dumb Indian boy who was abandoned as a child, named Moses. The three along with a six-year-old girl went down the river alone in a canoe to avoid violence. It’s as great as everyone says! I am fully immersed in history and ministry, helping these poor children find a home and security.

For my next audiobook, I chose a relatively unknown classic, Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World . This is not a crime / mystery, but science fiction! I had no idea what Doyle had previously written in the genre. The action takes place before the First World War and takes place in England, when an adventure journalist teamed up with an alien scientist who claims to have found a secluded spot in the Amazon, where prehistoric animals (including dinosaurs) are still alive. This is the first novel to present his character in the role of Professor Challenger. Since its publication in 1912, it contains several perplexed examples of racism, but the story is still interesting and compelling, and I want to see what happens next.

My husband because he just finished Follett’s “ Never ” (I think so, he got up late at night to let me finish!) We’ve been fans of Follett’s books since the 1980s when he first wrote thrillers, and lo and behold he returned to his roots with a unique race against world-class time. Initially, the author’s note states that he thought about how a seemingly small chain of events would turn into dominoes for the outbreak of World War I, so it creates a similar situation in the modern world (with the President of the United States). It looks great, and knowing Folette’s writing style, I’m sure it’s exciting as well. My husband really liked it

Our 27-year-old son has just finished reading Terry Brooks ’ “ Sword of Honor, ” an old science fiction novel and the first book of the author’s trilogy. I loved it! He said he wouldn’t wait too long to try it, and would definitely read more.
